Overview |
The route continues on the Roman Road and then returns to minor roads and farm tracks to Brienne. There are no shops for provisions along the way. |
1 - From the Mairie turn right at the crossroads along Rue Haute des Romaines for approx 3.5km bearing left past the farm. After approx 3km turn left on Rue de Dampierre. Cross over the junction and head along Rue de Braux for approx 3.5km to Braux.
2 - In Braux follow the road round to Braux centre. Take the 2nd track on the right (GR marked on the telegraph pole) for approx 3km. At the path crossroads turn right to re-join the Via Francigena path. Ignore left and right paths but carry on to the road and then turn right to travel round the edge of Chalette-Sur-Voire.
3 - At the T-junction turn left over bridges, continue on the road out of the village keeping left and then after approx 1km take the gravel track right. This will take you past and around fishing ponds and up to the main road.
4 - At the main road turn right and then left D130 Precy-Saint-Martin. Continue through the village, then turn left past the Mairie and continue on the track past the water tower - ignore the next right track. Continue ahead ignoring further tracks left and right to eventually reach the road. At the junction turn left and then right after the church Place de La Mairie.
5 - Continue straight on to Rue de L’eglise, then turn right and left. Continue on the track past the tower on the left, and then bear right onto another track before reaching the road in Brienne. Turn left down the road to pass the Chateau on the right. At the t-junction at the bottom of the hill turn right and then left to pass a market square on the right. At the end of the road reach the centre of Brienne.
